Savoir Faire may be French weeeee weeeee but St Croix is moving some of its rod production to Mexico si si from what I hear. I love the 8′ length for figure 8’s and hook setting. I guess that’s why there’s so many working against you. We have recently built several 7’6″ XH rods for guys that fish tournaments, and the replys have been: Brown Tail Walleye UV. My first 9′ rod is a dream to fish with – until the bulldawg the only way to get a 9′ rod was a custom build with inserts. I own a variety of rods including St Croixs and MI.
But if you’re looking for a rod to throw both sfries big plastics and Cowgirls like you mentioned, I’d go with the St.

I am looking to purchase a new 8′ rod for casting magnum bulldawgs and cowgirls but I rds not sure which one to buy. Anybody else hear about problems with them? I am look ing at another 8′ MH St. Made by Trophy Technologies.

There are several things that can be done to make the rod perform better, and fish easier. The Bull Dawg can be used as a crankbait, jerkbait or a jig. Is the color that you want out of stock? All you had to say was that it wasn’t true but instead you come at me with these strange accusations. I think you’ll have an easier time casting cowgirls with it, since it’s not quite as heavy and will load up nicely.

St. Croix vs. Bulldawg Rods
Quick Set Sucker Rigs. Despite what you may read on-line or in print, the difference from 8′ to 8’6″ is marginal. I would reccomend using a different setup for each type of bait. As a rod get’s over 8′ it’s very hard to get seties to balance decent, which increases angler fatigue.
